Dzongri Trekking - 11 Days

Dzongri trekking is a popular trek trail in Sikkim, This trail go through Yuksom to Dzongri and onwards to Goecha La, and superb views of Kanchenjunga. From Yuksam, the trail follows the Rathong Valley to Bakkhim and from here a steep ascent to the village of Tshoka. Above Tshoka the trail reaches Phedang. A further stage brings you to Dzongri (4020 M). From here the trail drops steeply down the river to Thangsing (3930 M). Dzongri is situated at an altitude of about 4020 M, in west Sikkim. It offers the trekker a most fascinating close-up view of Kanchenjunga and Mt. Pandim. To the west rises the long outline of the Kyangla ridge. Dzongri is trekker's paradise. Dzongri trekking trail is in the Kanchenjunga National Park. Trek through virgin rhododendron forests and experience the native culture of Sikkim. Climb Dzongri Top at sunrise to enjoy spectacular close up views of Mt. Kanchanjunga, Kabru, Pandim and many other snow capped peaks.

Itinerary

Day 01: Pick Up From Bagdogra / Bhadrapur Airport transfer to Gantok Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Visit do drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Rumtrek Monastery and Handicraft Center.

Day 03: Transfer from Gangtok to Yuksom (1,780m.) through the beautiful villages and hills- meet our trekking crew and overnight in Camp/Lodge

Day 04: Yuksom - Tsokha -> Trek begins here. This trek takes you through dense verdant Semi Tropical forest occassionaly crossed by Crystal clear rivulets and cascading water falls up to Praig Chu. After lunch a steep climb for an hour brings you to Tsokha - a small Tibetian hamlet from where the first glimpse of the mountains can be seen. O/N at trekkers huts/tents. Approx. Alt. 3050m & Distance 16kms/6 hours

Day 05: Excrusion of Dzongri alt.4,500m.O/N at camp.
Day 06: Dzongri -Halt. Dzongri La alt.4,500m. (Acclimatization) Halt.
Day 07: Trek back to Tsokha. O/N at camp.
Day 08: Trek back from Tsokha to Yuksam. Transfer to hotel. O/N at Yuksam.
Day 09: Drive Yuksam to Darjeeling via Pelling. On the way visit Pemayangtse monastery.Transfer to hotel. O/N at hotel.

Day 10: Early morning visit Tiger Hill for sunrise. On the way back visit Yiga Choling Monastery. After breakfast visit the Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Zoological Park, Tibetan Self Help Centre and a Tea garden. O/N at hotel.

Day 11: Drive to Bhadrapur for Kathmandu journey / Bagdogra Airport for onward journey.
