  • Overview of the trek

The Upper Mustang Jeep Tour offers an incredible overland adventure into one of Nepal's most isolated and culturally fascinating regions. Located on the border of Tibet, Upper Mustang is often referred to as "Little Tibet" due to its Tibetan-influenced culture, desert landscapes, and dramatic Himalayan vistas. This 4WD Jeep Tour is the perfect way to explore the region without the physical demands of trekking.

Starting from Kathmandu, Pokhara, or Jomsom, the journey takes you through rugged mountain terrain that requires a 4WD Jeep to navigate its challenging roads. Skilled drivers, familiar with the area’s difficult conditions, ensure a smooth and safe ride. The tour typically spans 10 to 13 days, visiting picturesque villages like Kagbeni, Marpha, and the highlight of the trip: Lo-Manthang, the ancient walled city that was once the capital of the Mustang Kingdom. Along the way, you'll also explore the Chhosar Valley, known for its cave dwellings and striking rock formations.

Throughout the tour, enjoy breathtaking views of the Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The journey also offers a chance to experience the unique lifestyle of the Tibetan-influenced Mustang people, visit ancient monasteries, and witness centuries-old Buddhist art in caves. Accommodations are basic yet comfortable, with teahouses and guesthouses providing a cozy retreat after each day’s adventure.

As Upper Mustang is a restricted area, a Restricted Area Permit (USD 500) and ACAP permit (USD 30) are required for entry, both arranged through a licensed trekking agency. This Upper Mustang Jeep Tour is the ideal way to explore one of Nepal's most unique and preserved regions, offering an unforgettable blend of culture, history, and nature.
