    Detailed Day-to-Day Itinerary

    Day 01

    Kathmandu (1350m) to Kyirong Border (175 KM) - 7-8 Hours Drive

    Start your journey with a scenic 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu (1350m) to the Kyirong Border (2800m). Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of lush landscapes, small villages, and the countryside. Upon reaching the border, complete immigration procedures before entering Tibet. Overnight stay in Kyirong, the gateway to your Tibet adventure.

    Day 02

    Drive Kyirong - Tingri (4300 m) – Shigatse (3,800 m) - 390 km

    Embark on a 7-8 hour drive, beginning with an ascent to the highest plateau. You'll cross the Gyatchu La Pass (5,220m), the highest pass on the route to Lhasa, offering spectacular views of the Tibetan landscape. The drive includes both uphill and downhill sections as you pass through Lhatse (4,200m), where the road to Mount Kailash diverges. Afterward, continue to Shigatse (3,800m) for an overnight stay.

    Day 03

    Drive from Shigatse to Lhasa (3,650 m)via Gyantse (3650 m) – 260 km

    Today, enjoy a scenic 6-7 hour drive from Shigatse (3,800m) to Lhasa (3,650m), passing through the historic town of Gyantse (3,650m). Along the way, visit the famous Pelkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum, known for its stunning architecture and intricate artwork. The drive offers breathtaking views of the Tibetan landscape, including beautiful valleys, rivers, and mountains. Arrive in Lhasa in the evening and check in to your hotel.

    Day 04–05

    Sightseeing in Lhasa

    Spend two full days exploring the spiritual and cultural highlights of Lhasa. Visit the sacred Jokhang Temple and stroll around the bustling Barkhor Bazaar, a traditional pilgrimage route filled with local life. Tour the majestic Potala Palace, the former residence of the Dalai Lama, and explore two of Lhasa’s most important monasteries—Drepung and Sera—known for their historical significance and vibrant monastic life. Overnight stays at your hotel in Lhasa.

    Day 06

    Drive from Lhasa to Xegar/Tingri (4,200 m) – 494 km

    Begin your return journey with a scenic drive of approximately 9–10 hours from Lhasa to Xegar (also known as Tingri, 4200m). The route takes you across high mountain passes and through stunning Tibetan landscapes, with occasional stops at local villages and viewpoints. Enjoy views of vast plateaus, river valleys, and distant Himalayan peaks. Arrive in Xegar/Tingri by evening for an overnight stay at a guesthouse.

    Day 07

    Drive from Xegar to Kyirong Town (2,700 m) – 334 km

    Today’s journey takes you on a 7–8 hour drive from Xegar (Tingri) to Kyirong Town (2700m). Descend from the high-altitude plateau into lower elevations, passing through dramatic landscapes and enjoying views of distant Himalayan peaks. As you approach Kyirong, the terrain becomes more lush and green, offering a striking contrast to the arid highlands. Arrive in Kyirong Town by evening and stay overnight at the hotel.

    Day 08

    Drive from Kyirong Town to Kyirong Border – Return to Kathmandu - 175 km

    After breakfast, drive a short distance from Kyirong Town to the Kyirong Border. Complete exit formalities on the Tibetan side and cross into Nepal. Here, you'll change vehicles and continue the scenic drive back to Kathmandu in a Nepali vehicle. The journey takes approximately 7–8 hours, covering about 175 kilometers through beautiful landscapes and hillside villages. Arrive in Kathmandu by evening. Tour ends.

    Accommodation & Facilities

    Accommodations are usually in local lodges or tea houses with basic amenities—clean beds, shared bathrooms, and dining halls.
    Some lodges offer hot showers for an additional fee, but availability may be limited at higher altitudes.
    Charging is available in most lodges for a fee. Power supply may be limited or solar-based, so bring a power bank as backup.

    Packing & Gear

    You’ll need layered clothing, good trekking boots, a daypack, a sleeping bag (if not provided), and basic toiletries. A detailed packing list will be shared upon booking.
    Yes, you can rent most essential gear like down jackets, sleeping bags, and poles from local shops at affordable rates.
    Keep your daypack light with only essentials (water, snacks, jacket). The porter will carry your main bag, usually limited to 10–15 kg.
