Introduction to Short Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek to Jomsom is one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal for those who want to experience the beauty of the Annapurna region in a shorter timeframe. This itinerary covers the most scenic and culturally rich sections of the classic Annapurna Circuit while ending at Jomsom, making it a faster and more flexible option than the full circuit.

The trek begins from Syange, allowing a gradual ascent through beautiful villages such as Jagat, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, Manang, and onward. Starting from Syange helps with better acclimatization, making the journey safer and more comfortable. However, trekkers with limited time can also start from Chame, which reduces the number of trekking days but increases the pace of the journey.

One of the major highlights of this trek is crossing the famous Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters). From the top, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After the pass, the trail descends into the dry landscapes of Lower Mustang, leading to the sacred town of Muktinath, an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

From Muktinath, the journey continues to Jomsom, a windy Himalayan town located in the Kali Gandaki Valley. This is where the short Annapurna Circuit officially ends. From Jomsom, trekkers can either take a short scenic flight to Pokhara or travel by road depending on their preference and budget.

The route offers an incredible variety of landscapes—from lush green hills and terraced farmland to alpine valleys, glaciers, and the arid terrain of Mustang. Along the way, you will pass through traditional villages inhabited by Gurung, Manangi, and Thakali communities, each offering unique culture, hospitality, and mountain lifestyle.

Our 15-day Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is carefully designed for a smooth and well-paced experience. It includes 10 days of trekking, along with arrival and departure days, transportation between Kathmandu and the trailheads, a guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu, and comfortable hotel accommodation. This makes it a complete package for trekkers who want adventure, culture, and convenience all in one journey.

Perfect for both first-time trekkers with good fitness and experienced hikers, the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek to Jomsom delivers the best highlights of the Annapurna region in a shorter and more manageable itinerary.

"This was my first trip to Nepal and my first time trekking. I was only able to spend a short time here and there was a lot that I wanted to do. The Alpine Adventure Club Treks & Expedition group was very helpful in planning my trip to make the most of my time. I went trekking on a small portion of the Annapurna circuit and was very pleased. The days and distances were very manageable for a trekker of my experience. The teahouses were all clean and my guide and porter were friendly and very helpful. They told me a lot of interesting trekking stories and taught me a lot about Nepal. I would definitely use them again on another trek and recommend them to other trekkers."
