Rapid Everest Base Camp Trek - 10 Days

Rapid Everest Base Camp Trek
$1385 All Inclusive Price.

Is it your dream to trek to Everest Base Camp and have limited time? You don't have to worry, we provide you with 10 days of trekking to Everest Base Camp. This short Everest Base Camp trek offers an opportunity to trek up to Mount Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar in 10 days but requires additional days in Kathmandu. Usually, 12 to 14 days are required to trek to Everest Base Camp, but we understand that not everyone has that much time but dreams and energy to trek to Everest Base Camp. Well, for those we suggest joining a short EBC trek. But this short trek is not allowed to adapt to the route, usually requiring an adaptation day to adjust to the higher altitudes. However, if you are strong and healthy, no adaptation day is needed, but it would be good if you take a rest day at Namche Bazaar. This is a common resting place for adaptation before climbing the trail at higher altitudes.

The trek to Everest Base Camp is one of the most famous Himalayan treks in Nepal. It offers amazing views of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Nuptse (7861 m), Makalu (8463 m), Pumori (7145 m), Ama Dablam (6812 m), Thamserku (6623 m), Konde (6187 m) and many other snow-capped peaks.

Apart from the view of the mountains, you will enjoy witnessing various landscapes, glaciers, snowfalls, river basins, old Buddhist monasteries (gompas), settlements of Sherpas, culture and tradition of Sherpas and also, you will get to see different types of birds and high altitude mountains. You will also see Himalayan animals.

All the places of this trekking are interesting and every step of the walk will give you a different experience and view of the mountains. Reaching Everest Base Camp (5364 m) is the main goal of the trek, but without climbing Kala Patthar (5545 m) the trek is not of full meaning. You have to climb the Kala Pathar to get a close-up view of Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayas. It is the best viewpoint in the entire Everest region from where you can witness amazing sunrise, sunset, and amazing Himalayan views.

The trek starts from Lukla and ends at Lukla. During the trekking season, there are several daily flights in and out of Lukla Airport, weather permitting. There is good availability of teahouse/lodge facilities on the Everest Base Camp trek trail, so most trekkers prefer to eat and sleep in teahouses, which are much cheaper than trekking camping.

Day 06: Lobuche trek  to Gorak Shep (5140m/16863ft) then hike to Everest base camp (5364m/17598ft)
Today bit challenging, long and hard day so we leave early morning after breakfast we following the Khumbu Glacier northwards to Gorakshep (5,180m)- About 3 hrs walk. After a rest and something to eat we trek across the sandy flat at Gorakshep and climb onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier. The trail ascends the side of the glacier for a couple of hours before finally descending onto the rocky glacial moraine itself. The trail winds up and down through fascinating ice to the area known as Everest Base Camp, where in spring, we might see some of the expedition teams as they prepare to climb the mountain. From the Base Camp we get fantastic close up views of the Khumbu Ice Fall and we can appreciate just how difficult it is to negotiate a route through the huge blocks of ice. Nuptse towers above us and Pumori rears up behind us. After a short photo stop we retrace our steps to Gorakshep. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge

Day 07: Gorak shep hike to Kala Patthar (5545m/18192ft) then trek to Pheriche (4260m/13976ft)
We start early in the morning to catch the dramatic views from Kala Patthar witnessing the first light of day shining on Mount Everest. However, we need to get prepared for an early morning, dark and cold temperature departure beforehand. Plus there is always the potential for chilly winds which are quite common. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to reveal itself emerging between the west shoulder crest and Nuptse. During the ascent to Kala Patthar we can pause to catch our breath at several outstanding view points to snap pictures. After several hours of an ascent, we reach Kala Patthar. From here we scramble to climb the rocky outcrop near to the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. As we reach the top, we sit on the Kala Patthar rocks our eyes taking in the unbelievable Himalayan Panorama, wandering from one mighty massif to another. We take as many pictures as we can with our camera and take the in view with our mind's eye to last lifetime. We return to Gorakshep for breakfast and retrace our steps to Lobuje for lunch and then continue on down the valley to the lower altitude of Pheriche. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge

Day 08: Pheriche trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m / 11286ft)
After breakfast, we trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. If it is spring, pink and red rhododendron flowers ablaze our surroundings. Depending on our hunger and condition, we either have our lunch in Pangboche or wait until we reach Phunki Tenga for lunch. After crossing the prayer flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River trail then follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests. The path eventually reaches Sansa which is the major trail junction in the region. We stop at Kyangjuma (3570m) for a relaxed lunch. We unknowingly appreciate the gorgeous Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse with every bite. Following lunch, the trail to Namche Bazaar clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. We keep a lookout for wild life such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc., while passing through the forest by the trail. After passing a Chorten, we reach the army camp at Namche Bazaar. At this point, we would like to take a long last look (and picture!) back to Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche then continue walk to your lodge. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge

Day 09: Namche Bazaar trek to Lukla (2840m/9317ft)
After breakfast we need follow the trail descends steeply downward so we need to walk slowly and under control as our shaky legs continuously battle the rocky terrain. After crossing the suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Koshi and its tributaries the trail becomes more level and natural. By today we start to get warmed up by the light breeze. Any remaining sore throats and colds will be gone by today as we pass through this charming mountain air. Although we are travelling the same route down, we feel completely different views. We snap a mixture of open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and in the distance snow covered peaks. We walk through the Sherpa villages' noticing impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag while we walk through the villages. Upon arrival in Lukla, we stretch those sore legs and recall the experiences of the trip. We experience the culmination of a fantastic trek on a happy note with everyone back safe and sound with smile on faces. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge
