The trekking from Jiri to Gokyo Valley is an enjoyable and oldest trek route that starts from a low altitude of 1950 meters and reaches a height of 5357 meters at Gokyo Ri Peak. After a scenic drive of about seven hours from Kathmandu to Jiri Bazaar, the trek begins from here. Even it is possible to reach Bhandar by motor road, driving from Kathmandu to Bhandar is a long journey in a single day. The trek from Jiri Bazaar to Gokyo Valley follows in the footsteps of the old approach route, which was followed by the Everest expedition of 1950. You follow a spectacular route through the Solukhumbu area to fine Sherpa villages, each village offering something new. It offers ample opportunity to explore the beautiful forest, cultivated countryside, and the many monasteries situated at high altitudes on the way to Phakding.

Once you cross Phakding, you climb to Namche Bazaar, the main trading village of Khumbu. Attractions include the spectacular scenery and the outgoing Sherpa people of Solukhumbu. Trekking from Namche to Gokyo Lake is an incredible journey that takes you through the breathtaking sight of the Gokyo Lakes.

The trek from Jiri to Gokyo explores Lower Solukhumbu and the breathtaking Gokyo valley which lies in the Upper Khumbu region. The first half of the trek is not only a tough slog but also takes in the breathtaking scenery very well. The trek cuts across the valley and begins in the Hindu lowlands in Nepal and ends in the Tibetan Buddhist highlands.

The Gokyo Valley is a land of high-altitude lakes and glaciers. From where you will have a magnificent view of the highest peaks, from the west to east are Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest ( 8848m), Lhotse (8,501m) and further way Makalu.
