Gokyo Lake is located in the fascinating Gokyo Valley of the Everest region. Gokyo Lake Trekking is the second most popular and excellent trek route in the Everest region which is less congested and slightly shorter than the traditional Everest Base Camp trek. People on this trek route follow the traditional Sherpa culture and are associated with the Tibetan society. During the journey you will find three glacial lakes, Gokyo Lake being the third lake which is the final destination of our trek. Gokyo Lake is known as one of the most memorable sights in Nepal as it offers a chance to witness the sparkling, old blue and green waters together.
After seeing the Gokyo Glacier Lake, you will also get a chance to climb Gokyo Ri Peak. From Gokyo Ri, more of Everest itself is visible from a slightly greater distance than from Kala Patthar above Gorak Shep. Gokyo Valley is beautiful in itself, it offers spectacular views of Gokyo Valley, Gokyo Lakes, Gokyo RI, Gyachung Kang glacier and snow-covered peaks, Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Ngozumpa, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and other beautiful Mountains.
The highest point of this trek is Gokyo Ri (Gokyo Peak) situated at 5357 meters. From here you can see the Ngojumpa Glacier to the west, which is the largest glacier in Nepal and is considered to be the largest in the entire Himalayas.
Standard Gokyo Lake Trekking starts from Lukla Airport, it is just 35 minutes flight away from Kathmandu Airport. The trek passes through the beautiful town of Namche Bazaar, which is the local trade center, and traders from Tibet and other neighboring villages come to sell art objects and goods. The town, maintaining its reputation, is now a tourist hub as it is the gateway to the Himalayas. After Namche Bazaar, you proceed through the main busy trail to the sleeping Phortse Tenga village and finally passing through Dole and Machhermo to reach our final destination, Gokyo Lake (4750 m).
You may find some difficulty in walking on this trekking route as the trek to Gokyo Lake is getting higher and higher but the beautiful scenery during the trek makes you forget all the difficulties easily. And when you reach Gokyo, you are captivated by the beautiful lake and the beautiful scenery around it.
The next day climb Gokyo Ri (5357 m), then you need to continue the trek for a few days to return to Lukla to finish the trek. From Lukla, you will take an early morning flight to Kathmandu, after reaching Kathmandu, rest at your hotel. The next day the tour guide will take you on a historical sightseeing tour of the city.
