Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the most popular picturesque, short and easy trekking located in the heart of the Annapurna Himalayan region of Nepal. Ghorepani is situated at 2855 meters and Poon Hill at 3210 meters. Trekking up to Ghorepani and Poon Hill is an ideal option for those who want to do an easy and short trekking in Nepal Himalayas and want to see the high mountain views. After about 45 minutes of the climb from Ghorepani, you will reach Poon Hill, one of the most popular hill stations overlooking the Annapurna Massif range and the Dhaulagiri mountain range with stunning sunrise and sunset.
The trek up to Ghorepani and Poon Hill is suitable for people of all ages, especially families with children. On this trek, you will get panoramic views of Mount Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Annapurna I (8091 m), Fishtail/Machhapuchhre (6993 m), Nilgiri (7041 m), Bharha Shikhar (7647 m) Annapurna South (7219 m), Annapurna II (7939 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Lamjung Himal (6988 m) and Hiunchuli (6434 m).
Apart from mountain views, you will find beautiful landscapes, blooming rhododendron forests, varieties of birds, river basins, Gurung Museum, mountain village life, different ethnic groups and their culture. The trek trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense rhododendron forests and past icy waterfalls where trekkers can stop to cool their minds after a walk. There is a fascinating glimpse of the high mountain horizon around every corner. The trail passes through the inhabited ethnic villages of Magar and Gurung.
Below given Ghorepani Poon Hill trek itinerary, the trek starts from Nayapul/Birethanti (46 km from Pokhara) and ends at Dhampus Phedi which is more commonly used, but from Ghandruk is possible to go to Pokhara via Birethani in a single day, if you don’t have enough time to continue trek to Dhampus Phedi. Although, if you want to make a short 3 to 4 day trek you need to go through the Ulleri village and return through the same route.
If you want to extend your stay in this trekking trail absolutely possible you may extend to go Magdi Tatopani or Jhinu danda (both places offer the best natural hot springs for taking a bath). This trekking can be done throughout the year.
