The short Annapurna Circuit Trek is a fascinating journey with daily views of the Annapurna-Mansalu Himalayan snow-capped peaks. After the construction of the motor road from Besi Sahar to Chame, it has become possible to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek in 10 days except Kathmandu. This is the best option for those who are looking for a short Annapurna Circuit Trek, but they should be ready for off-road-drive travel from Besi Sahar to Chame (Not available in monsoon). The trek is special for mountain scenery, cultural diversity and to cross a beautiful high pass Thorong La Pass (5416 meters). The trail has long been considered the best trek in Nepal and ranked as one of the top 10 best trails in the world for the classic walking holidays.
The trek follows the Marsyangdi valley to the north of the main Himalayan range and cross the Thorung La Pass (5416 meters) to descend into the dramatic desert like Tibetan-style scenery of the Upper Kali Gandaki Valley. The trek route passes charming villages of Gurungs, Manangis and Thakalis. The trek offers amazing mountain views of the numerous above 7000 meters Annapurna Peaks, some other beautiful mountains including mount Manaslu. After crossing the Thorong La Pass you will reach at Muktinath and visit the Muktinath temple, a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists.
After Muktinath, we descend to Kali Gandaki River and follow the trail to Jomsom, on this day see an eyeful landscape view of the Mustang and immense views of Nilgiri Himal, Dhaulagiri and Tukuche peak. Jomson has daily flight connections with Pokhara. From Jomsom we take a flight to Pokhara and Kathmandu.
Of course, after the motor road constructed from Besi Sahar to Chame and from Muktinath to Beni the trail affected for those who wants to do the whole classic Annapurna circuit trek, although it provided the option to complete the trek in short time if using overland transport.
On this trek trail has some choices of the best and cheapest trekking lodges/teahouses, offers good accommodation and food for trekkers and climbers, so most of the trekkers prefer to eat and sleep at teahouse which is much cheaper than doing a camping trekking.
