The Manaslu and Annapurna regions are ambitious for trekking holidays. Trekking in both regions at the same time is a slightly longer trek in the Himalayas, but the trek combines two of the most beautiful treks in Nepal, the Manaslu Circuit and the Annapurna Circuit Trek, passing through two passes above 5000 meters, the Larkya La Pass and Thorong La Pass. Manaslu (8163 m) is the eighth highest peak in the world, and its area was opened for trekking only in 1991. Heading north from Gorkha, along the Budhi Gandaki River, the route then turns westwards into a high alpine valley with typical Tibetan villages and a number of fine monasteries. A steeper ascent to Larkya La pass (5160 m) is rewarded by stunning views of the Manaslu. At Dharapani, you will join the Annapurna Circuit Trail and follow the Marsyangdi River upstream.
After Pisang you get stunning up-close views of snowy and glaciated high peaks including Annapurnas II, III and IV. Huge glacial moraines abound, etched deeply by wind erosion into fantastic pillars. We complete this breath-taking route by crossing the Thorong La pass (5416 m) to Jomosom. From there, we can either fly to Pokhara or Trekking continues through the Kali Gandaki river valley and then climbs up to Ghorepani to the best hill station, Poon Hill (3210 m), from where you will enjoy stunning dawn views of Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre and Annapurna South.
But the itinerary given below is a trek that ends in Jomsom and takes a flight to Pokhara. If you don't want to use a flight from Jomsom, there is now a motor road connecting to Pokhara, so it is possible to travel from Jomsom to Pokhara in a single day. There are regular bus services. From Pokhara, you come back to Kathmandu by Tourist Bus or if you pay the flight fare then come back by flight.
