The tour takes you to iconic destinations such as Lachen and Lachung, remote mountain settlements that serve as gateways to North Sikkim’s most revered natural wonders. From Lachen, you’ll ascend to the breathtaking Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world, shimmering like a jewel against a backdrop of snow-covered peaks. Lachung, on the other hand, leads you to the enchanting Yumthang Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers, where vibrant blooms, grazing yaks, and bubbling hot springs create a dreamlike setting.

North Sikkim Tour Route and Itinerary

Day 01

Arrival at Bagdogra or Bhadrapur Airport and Transfer to Gangtok

If you arrive at Bagdogra Airport, it is a 130 km drive, taking approximately 4 hours to reach Gangtok. From Bhadrapur Airport, the drive is about 155 km and takes around 4.5 hours. You will be received by our representative and transferred to Gangtok. Check-in at the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 02

Gangtok Sightseeing

After breakfast, we’ll explore local sights around Gangtok, including Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, and Hanuman Tok, offering stunning views of the Himalayas and the city. Visit Rumtek Monastery or Jhakri Falls, the Institute of Tibetology for Tibetan artifacts, and the Orchid House with its Himalayan orchid collection. Other stops include Enchay Monastery and Dodurl Chorten. In the evening, head to MG Marg for shopping and to enjoy Sikkimese delicacies at a local restaurant.

Day 03

Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

Embark on an easy excursion to Tsomgo Lake, located at an altitude of 3,780 meters near the Indo-China border. Enjoy the serene beauty of the lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Visit Harbhajan Baba Mandir, a sacred site, and if accessible, proceed to Nathula Pass (3,650 meters), near the China border. You also have the option to experience a Yak ride here. Afterward, return to Gangtok by the late afternoon and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 04

Gangtok to Lachen

After breakfast, depart from Gangtok in the morning for Lachen, located in North Sikkim. En route, visit Tashi View Point for panoramic views, the historic Kabi Lungtsok, and Phodong Monastery. Enjoy a lunch break along the way. After a scenic drive of approximately 123 km (around 6 hours), arrive in Lachen. Check in to your hotel and relax for an overnight stay in this picturesque village.

Day 05

Gurudongmar Lake - Lachen & Lachung

After an early breakfast, embark on a thrilling journey to Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world, situated at an altitude of 5,210 meters (17,100 ft). Located in North Sikkim, the lake is just 5 kilometers south of the Chinese border, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. After spending some time at the lake, return to Lachen and then proceed to Lachung for an overnight stay.

Day 06

Lachung – Yumthang Valley – Gangtok

After breakfast, drive about 25 km to reach Yumthang Valley, famously known as the Valley of Flowers, located at an altitude of 3,660 meters. Enjoy the beautiful alpine meadows, blooming Primulas, Rhododendrons, and waterfalls. Visit the natural Hot Spring, then return to Lachung. After lunch, visit Lachung Monastery and the local cottage industry. Later, drive back to Gangtok (approx. 115 km) and check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 07

Departure from Gangtok

Early in the morning, drive to your departure point—either Bagdogra Airport, Bhadrapur Airport, or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station. Your memorable North Sikkim trip comes to an end with beautiful memories of the Himalayas and Sikkimese culture.

Packing & Gear

You’ll need layered clothing, good trekking boots, a daypack, a sleeping bag (if not provided), and basic toiletries. A detailed packing list will be shared upon booking.
Yes, you can rent most essential gear like down jackets, sleeping bags, and poles from local shops at affordable rates.
Keep your daypack light with only essentials (water, snacks, jacket). The porter will carry your main bag, usually limited to 10–15 kg.
