Lukla flights are operating from Ramechhap from 15th March 2023, due to heavy air traffic at Kathmandu airport you have to reach Ramechhap airport (Manthali airport) from Kathmandu to fly to Lukla. It takes around 4-5 hours (135 km) to drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap. It takes around 15-20 minutes to reach Lukla airport from Manthali airport.

If you want to go on a trek in the Everest region. You need to travel to Ramechhap by private transport and if you want to fly to Lukla on the same day then you need to start driving from Kathmandu at least 2:30 Am. It is not necessary to travel early in the morning from Kathmandu if you prefer to stay overnight in Ramechhap, but there are not enough hotels/lodges available in Ramechhap. Accommodation in Ramchhap is very basic and limited so we need to book in advance if you plan to stay overnight there.
