Overview of the trek
The Kori Trek with Kapuche Lake is a peaceful and less-crowded trekking route in Nepal’s Annapurna Conservation Area, northeast of Pokhara. The trek begins and ends at Sikles, a traditional Gurung village located at 1,940 meters, known for its stone houses, terraced fields, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
From Sikles, the trail passes through forests and high pastures to reach Kapuche Lake, a stunning turquoise glacial lake at about 2,450 meters, considered one of the world’s lowest-altitude glacial lakes and fed by the glaciers of Annapurna II. Continuing higher, the trek leads to Kori Danda at 3,850 meters, an open alpine ridge offering spectacular panoramic views of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhare (Fishtail), and Manaslu. This trail is named the Toni Hagen Trail, after the Swiss geologist and explorer who first mapped many parts of Nepal.
The trek blends cultural immersion, natural beauty, and Himalayan scenery, making it ideal for trekkers seeking a moderate, off-the-beaten-path adventure away from crowded routes.
