Kathmandu Valley Trek - 6 Days
Trekking Around Kathmandu Valley takes you to nature in less time with easy walks. The Kathmandu Valley is surrounded by hills that provide good stations for mountain views. The Kathmandu Valley Trek is not only popular for the views of the mountains but also offers a mix of wildlife, age-old tradition, and culture. Especially for families coming with children or elders, this trek is a good option. Of course, if you are looking for a short hiking option from Kathmandu then this is a delightful tour that takes you above the Kathmandu Valley. This trek route, also known as Kathmandu Rim Valley Trekking provides a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of nature. As you walk the hills, you will get a stunning view of the mountains, the sunrise/sunset over the Himalayas, and the rural villages, people, and their local lifestyle.
A beautiful trek begins from Sundarijal on the edge of Shivapuri National Park, the source of drinking water of Kathmandu city. It is 20 km away from Thamel, the main tourist hub. On the first day of the trek (Sundarijal to Chisapani), you have to climb a lush green forest trail for about 4-5 hours, but you have to get down just before reaching Chisapani (2140 m). It is a hilltop and is famous for spectacular panoramic mountain views. The trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot is a scenic 7-8 hour walk. Nagarkot is the best hill station near Kathmandu for stunning mountains and sunrise views. Every day hundreds of visitors from Kathmandu come here by road.
The trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel is mostly downhill through jungles, villages, and terrains. Dhulikhel is a small town that offers spectacular views of the Himalayas and culture. After Dhulikhel, you continue the trek to visit Namo Buddha, one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites, and Balthali village, a small authentic village. On your trek, you will see mountain views and agricultural land as well as Buddhist monks and the oldest monastery at Namo Buddha.
After reaching Balthali village you can take a tour of the village. On the last day of the trek, you trek for just a few hours to reach the exclusive Newari town, Panuiti. Here you will have enough time to visit Hindu temples and the local Panuti market. Afternoon drive from Panauti to Kathmandu takes about one and half hours to drive in 34 km.
