Introduction to Everest Panorama Trek
The Everest Panorama Trek is an excellent choice for travellers who want to experience the Everest region within a short timeframe. Instead of trekking all the way to Everest Base Camp, this journey focuses on spectacular Himalayan scenery, traditional Sherpa villages, and the famous Everest View Hotel. The trek begins with a scenic mountain flight to Lukla (2,840m) from Kathmandu or, during the main trekking seasons, from Ramechhap (Manthali Airport). Ramechhap is approximately a 4–6-hour drive from Kathmandu and serves as the departure point for many Lukla flights during busy periods. After arriving in Lukla, we follow the Dudh Koshi Valley through Phakding and Monjo before entering Sagarmatha National Park.
The trail passes through pine and rhododendron forests, crosses traditional suspension bridges, and winds past colourful prayer wheels, chortens, and monasteries, offering an authentic introduction to the Everest region. A steady ascent then brings us to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the main trading centre of the Khumbu region, where we spend an additional day for acclimatization. During your stay, you can explore local cafés, bakeries, museums, shops, and nearby viewpoints while enjoying the lively atmosphere of this Sherpa mountain town.
From Namche Bazaar, we continue to the famous Everest View Hotel (3,880m), one of the highest luxury hotels in the world. On a clear day, the hotel's panoramic terrace offers magnificent views of Mount Everest (8,848m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m), Thamserku (6,608m), Kongde Ri (6,187m), and many other snow-capped peaks. After enjoying the scenery, we return along the same trail through Namche Bazaar and Phakding to Lukla.
Throughout the trek, you will stay in comfortable teahouses operated by local families, enjoy freshly prepared meals, and experience the genuine hospitality of the Sherpa people. The moderate walking days and gradual ascent make this trek suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
