Returning south, you’ll explore the peaceful town of Pemayangtse, home to one of the state’s oldest monasteries, and take in the serene beauty of Khecheopalri Lake, a sacred site steeped in local legend. Discover Sikkim Tour Route and Itinerary

Day 01

Arrival at Bagdogra or Bhadrapur Airport and Transfer to Gangtok

If you arrive at Bagdogra Airport, it is a 130 km drive, taking approximately 4 hours to reach Gangtok. From Bhadrapur Airport, the drive is about 155 km and takes around 4.5 hours. You will be received by our representative and transferred to Gangtok. Check-in at the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 02

Gangtok Sightseeing

In the morning, visit Enchey Monastery, Deer Park, Government Institute of Cottage Industry, Dodrul Chorten, and the Research Institute of Tibetology. In the afternoon, visit Rumtek Monastery, located 24 km away, a magnificent structure built by the late Gyalwa Karmapa, head of the Kagyu sect. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03

Gangtok to Lachung (2,750 m )

After breakfast, embark on an early morning drive to Lachung (2,750 meters), a charming village located in the scenic North Sikkim valley. The drive, which takes approximately 6 hours covering 117 km, offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and picturesque rivers. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04

Excursion to Yumthang Valley

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive of approximately 25 km (1.5 hours) through conifer and rhododendron forests to Yumthang Valley (3,500 meters). The journey offers an enjoyable experience with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Enjoy a packed lunch during the trip. Return to Lachung in the evening for an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 05

Lachung to Gangtok

After breakfast, drive back to Gangtok (1,600 meters) from Lachung (2,750 meters), covering a distance of 117 km in approximately 6 hours. Enjoy the scenic route as you descend from the mountains, passing through lush green valleys and picturesque villages. Arrive in Gangtok and check-in at your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 06

Gangtok to Pemayangtse

After breakfast, drive through semi-tropical forests, cardamom plantations, and villages to Pemayangtse (2,085 meters). In the afternoon, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, located adjacent to the hotel. This premier monastery, built in the 17th century, is one of the most significant Buddhist monasteries in Sikkim. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07

Visit to Khechoperi Lake and Sangacholing Monastery

After breakfast, drive to Khechoperi Lake (24 km/1.5 hrs), also known as the Wishing Lake, considered very sacred. No water sports or activities are allowed around the lake, only prayer and worship. In the afternoon, take a short walk (2 km/45 min) to Sangacholing Monastery, located on a hillock above the hotel. On a clear day, the view of the surrounding mountain ranges is breathtaking. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08

Pemayangtse to Kalimpong and Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive from Pemayangtse to Kalimpong (133 km / approx. 5 hours), a charming hill town known for its scenic beauty and vibrant cultural heritage. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and refresh. In the afternoon, enjoy sightseeing in Kalimpong, including visits to Durpin Dara Hill, Zang Dhok Palri Monastery, and the town’s famous flower nurseries. Overnight at hotel.

Day 09

Departure from Kalimpong to to Bagdogra or Bhadrapur

After breakfast, drive to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) (approximately 78 km / 3 hours) or Bhadrapur Airport (approximately 115 km / 4.5 hours) for your onward journey, marking the end of our services.

Weather & Temperature

Accommodation & Facilities

Accommodations are usually in local lodges or tea houses with basic amenities—clean beds, shared bathrooms, and dining halls.
Some lodges offer hot showers for an additional fee, but availability may be limited at higher altitudes.
Charging is available in most lodges for a fee. Power supply may be limited or solar-based, so bring a power bank as backup.

Packing & Gear

You’ll need layered clothing, good trekking boots, a daypack, a sleeping bag (if not provided), and basic toiletries. A detailed packing list will be shared upon booking.
Yes, you can rent most essential gear like down jackets, sleeping bags, and poles from local shops at affordable rates.
Keep your daypack light with only essentials (water, snacks, jacket). The porter will carry your main bag, usually limited to 10–15 kg.
