  • Overview of the trek

The Classic Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri follows the original classic route to Everest Base Camp, starting with an overland journey from Kathmandu to Bhandar. Starting from a lower altitude allows for a gradual ascent and better acclimatization, and reduces the risk of altitude sickness. Trekkers pass through the Lower Solu region, traditional villages and forested hills, gradually gaining altitude as they move through both the Lower and Upper Solukhumbu valleys.

After joining the main EBC trail at Phakding, the trek continues to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche before reaching the iconic Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Many trekkers also climb Kala Patthar (5,545m) for sunrise views of Everest and surrounding peaks.

Some trekkers opt to extend the trek from Everest Base Camp to Surke and then back to Kathmandu by jeep or local transport via Phaplu and Salleri, but our itinerary follows the classic route and ends at Lukla. From Lukla, trekkers take a short flight back to Kathmandu, finishing the trip.

This is the most common and easiest way to finish the trek, with stunning views of the Himalayas and a convenient connection to Kathmandu. It’s adventure and comfort balanced, and the lower starting point makes it safer and more rewarding for those concerned about high altitude adjustment.
