Sundarijal to Chisapani-Nagarkot and Panauti Trek

Chisapani and Namobuddha Trek

One of the famous treks trail around Kathmandu valley is starting trekking from Sundarijal for Chisapani to Nagarkot and further trekking to Dhulikhel, Namobuddha, Balthali village then trek end at Panauti Bazaar. Sundarijal is located 15 km north-east of Kathmandu, it takes about 45 minutes drive from Thamel main tourist's hub. Sundarijal is the trekking starting point for Helambu valley and Chisapani to Nagarkot and so on. Sundarijal is also a popular hangout and busy picnic spot. In the beginning the trail pierces Shivapuri National Park passing through a big watershed that supplies 40 percent drinking water to Kathmandu Valley.

Chisapani to Nagarkot trek offers beautiful nature and village walking experience, natural environment, stunning Himalayan view of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishankar Himal and even we can see the Mt Annapurna (From Chisapani) and Everest (from Nagarkot view tower) in far distance.

First day Sundarijal trek to Chisapani it takes about 4–5 hours. The water and weather in Chisapani always cold, as its name is Chisapani, meaning “cold water” in Nepali. Next morning, wakeup earlier to see the brilliant sunrise rising in the Himalayan range. Chisapani to Nagarkot it takes 6-7 walking hours, walking through the jungle till Jule continue trek to Chauki Bhanjyang for Lunch break. After Lunch, continue trek to Nagarkot with enjoy in close up view of farming fields and landscape. Finally, you reach at Nagarkot, beautiful village full of standard hotels, lodges, and resorts.

Probably Nagarkot is one of the best sunrise and sunset spot so evening sunset view excellent and early morning sunrise view is the most fascinating and mesmerizing view reflecting rays of sun to the White Mountains.

Those who does not have much time, from Nagarkot they trek about 3 hours down to Changunarayan (Hindu temple) then drive back to Kathmandu in same day, but our trek continues from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel it takes about 6 hours. It offers to see you flora and fauna, villager’s lifestyles, cultural and different biodiversity lowland to highland.

Dhulikhel trek to Namobuddha and same day trek to Balthali it takes about 7 hours. You will have lunch break at Namo Buddha where you can see a famous ancient Tibetan Buddhist Monastery after that continue trek to Balthali village through the jungle. Balthali trek to Panauti (Panauti is one of the oldest towns in Nepal where you will see the oldest temples) it takes about two and half hours then drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu airport transfer to Hotel
After you arrive in Kathmandu airport please check our company board outside the main gate there will be our airport representative you will meet with him, and he will be transferred to hotel by private vehicle and our representative will help you to check in your hotel after that if time enough, representative will take you to our office for short briefing about the trip but if not enough time then give a short trip brief in hotel and request to pay the due balance for the trip. Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and trek preparation
After breakfast, tour guide will take to you for full day sightseeing in historical monuments sightseeing places including Pashupatinath temple (The biggest Hindu temple), Boudhanath (the biggest Buddhist stupa), Swayambhunath known as monkey temple and Kathmandu Durbar square then drive back to hotel. Overnight at hotel

Day 03: Kathmandu drive to Sundarijal then trek to Chisapani
Early morning one hour drive to trek start point in Sundarijal. You need to enter the Shivapuri National Park to the north of the Kathmandu valley. It takes four to five hour for trekking from Sundarijal to Chisapani. You will be crossing the Tamang settlement in Mulkharka and ridge through the oak and rhododendron forest before Chisapani. Overnight at guesthouse

Day 04: Chisapani trek to Nagarkot
It will take six to seven hours of easy hike. Crossing the dense forest through a small village at Chauki Bhanjyang, you need 3 hours to reach Nagarkot. This hill station is world famous for Himalayan views and sunrise and sunset is just wonderful heaven on earth. Overnight at Hotel

Day 05: Nagarkot trek to Dhulikhel
Early morning provides excellent mountain views and best sunrise on clear days that are absolutely spectacular. Today our trek is start at first passing through pine forest alongside road head with occasional encounter with wildlife. You hike past beautiful countryside, villages, small tea-shops, farmlands etc. The trail passes along Rohini Bhanjyang, Tanchok witnessing majestic panorama of the mountains like Gauri Shankhar, Dorje Lhakpa. Soon, Dhulikhel is reached and admire majestic Himalayan views and the valley below from the hilltop. Dhulikhel is an ancient Newari city with several interesting Hindu Temples. Overnight at Hotel

Day 06: Dhulikhel trek to Namo Buddha
The Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha hiking is easy; one-day hiking that combines culture, village lifestyle with incredible scenic views of the Himalayas. The trail is not difficult as we walk for about four hours to Namo Buddha where we will have lunch as well as an opportunity to explore the Gumba (Buddhist Monastery). Namo Buddha is sacred to the Buddhists because it is said that here Lord Buddha in a previous life sacrificed himself in order to allow a hungry tigress to feed her young cubs. It ranks as one of the three holy Buddhist sites in the Kathmandu Valley, along with Boudhanath and Swayambhu. Overnight at Monastery

Day 07: Namobuddha trek to Balthali village
Sunrise view and again you will have touchy view of fertile farms and villages located on the way as we move ahead. During the trek you can walk over the part of the countryside to the east of Kathmandu is at its best, with forests and farmlands, streams and rivers, hills and plateaus. Overnight at Hotel/Resort

Day 08: Balthali village trek to Panuiti then drive to Kathmandu
Moring enjoy in Balthali. Today easy trek to Panauti where you can see typical Newari village, this traditional Newar village is particularly rural and Panauti is home of large number of fascinating temples, after visiting Panauti drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 09: Depart Kathmandu or extend your trip
We will drop you at the airport by our private vehicle according to your airport time. It is recommended to reach the airport at least two hours prior to departure.
