Overview of the Annapurna Panorama Trek

The Annapurna Panorama Trek is one of Nepal’s best short treks, offering stunning Himalayan views, rich cultural experiences, and an unforgettable adventure. Trekkers typically reach Pokhara—the gateway to the Annapurna region—by a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu or via an overland journey through picturesque countryside. Pokhara is renowned for its tranquil Phewa Lake, lively lakeside markets, and spectacular views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks, making it an ideal base to start or end the trek.

The trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kande, followed by an ascent to Australian Camp and a trek through Pothana to Pitam Deurali, where trekkers get their first views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. The trail then descends to Landruk, a traditional Gurung village known for its terraced fields and stone houses. From Landruk, the route continues to Jhinu Danda, famous for its natural hot springs beside the Modi Khola River—a perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate after a day of trekking. The journey then climbs steadily through forested trails to Ghandruk, one of the region’s largest Gurung villages, celebrated for its cultural heritage and panoramic mountain vistas.

From Ghandruk, trekkers follow a peaceful forest trail to Tadapani, rich with blooming rhododendrons and diverse birdlife in spring. Tadapani offers stunning sunset views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. From here, a scenic side trail leads to Dobato, providing a quieter, less-crowded alternative to the usual Poon Hill route. This trail takes trekkers to Mulde Hill Viewpoint (3,637 m), a hidden gem boasting breathtaking 360-degree Himalayan panoramas. After enjoying the sunrise, the trek rejoins the main trail at Deurali Danda (3,090 m) and continues to Ghorepani, where trekkers prepare for the iconic early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m).

The final section descends through Ulleri and Tikhedhunga or continues to Nayapul, where the trek ends with a drive back to Pokhara. This route offers an ideal blend of natural beauty, cultural encounters, and rewarding mountain vistas for those seeking a memorable yet manageable adventure in the Annapurna region.
