Introduction to Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most famous trekking routes, offering a complete Himalayan experience with a perfect mix of culture, adventure, and ever-changing landscapes. It takes you around the Annapurna Massif through river valleys, traditional villages, high mountain passes, and dramatic alpine scenery.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek can begin from several locations, depending on the itinerary and current road access. While the traditional starting point is Besisahar, many trekkers now begin from Bhulbhule, Syange, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, or Manang to suit their schedule and preferred trekking duration.

Our itinerary starts from Syange (1,080 m) after a scenic drive from Kathmandu via Besisahar. This allows you to bypass the lower road section and begin trekking on one of the most scenic parts of the route, enjoying beautiful river valleys, waterfalls, traditional villages, and spectacular mountain views from the first day.

One of the biggest highlights of the Annapurna Circuit Trek Nepal is crossing the legendary Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), one of the highest trekking passes in the world. It rewards trekkers with wide panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

The route passes through beautiful villages such as Dharapani, Chame, Upper Pisang, Ngawal, Bhraka, Manang, Yak Kharka, and Muktinath, where Tibetan-influenced culture, monasteries, and warm hospitality create a memorable experience. A rest day in Manang is an important part of the journey for proper acclimatization.

After crossing Thorong La Pass, the trek descends to the sacred pilgrimage town of Muktinath, followed by a drive by public bus or shared jeep through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Valley to Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs.

From Tatopani, the trekking route resumes again on foot toward Ghorepani, where an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) offers one of the best sunrise views in Nepal. The journey then continues through the traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk, before ending in the lakeside city of Pokhara.

The Classic Annapurna Circuit Trek package remains one of the most rewarding trekking journeys in Nepal, offering a continuous blend of culture, adventure, and mountain scenery that makes it a favorite choice for trekkers from around the world.

"This was my first trip to Nepal and my first time trekking. I was only able to spend a short time here and there was a lot that I wanted to do. The Alpine Adventure Club Treks & Expedition group was very helpful in planning my trip to make the most of my time. I went trekking on a small portion of the Annapurna circuit and was very pleased. The days and distances were very manageable for a trekker of my experience. The teahouses were all clean and my guide and porter were friendly and very helpful. They told me a lot of interesting trekking stories and taught me a lot about Nepal. I would definitely use them again on another trek and recommend them to other trekkers."

"Annapurna Circuit - Annapurna Base Camp October/November 2011 We did 25 days long trek and were very happy to have this Alpine Adventure Club, because with our guide and the porter we could enjoy the trek without any trouble. The most time we had a room for two, sometimes with private bathroom and the most time with hot shower. Although the meals were very good. Our guide looks for everything we need and this makes the trip very relaxing. If we come back to Nepal, we plan this, we will chose the same Agency and also the same guide and porter! Thank you for the nice time in Nepal."
