Langtang and Helambu Trekking

Langtang Gosainkund trekking

Langtang and Helambu trekking area lies in the north of Kathmandu. This trek trail take you to Langtang, Gosainkunda and Helambu. The Langtang valley is aptly called "the valley of glaciers". Here the mountain - view is spectacular. On either side of valley, mountains rise, soaring in to the sky. The valley offers pain forest, slow moving rivers and swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow- capped peaks. In the upper part of valley there are snow bridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lake with icebergs floating on them and water of crystalline brightness. There are also high mountains of solid ice. Gosainkunda, regarded as sacred land in Hinduism, is dotted with lakes atop the mountain, offering a quiet respite. There are few visitors outside of those who come for the summer festival.

Langtang trek is on the area of Tibetan culture and home of Yak and Gosainkunda is a great sacred lake on an elevation of 4460m. It is great combination of mountain and culture different. The trek starts from Syabru Besi (1503m) and ends at sundarijal. From Sybru Bensi, you will follow the Langtang River to the east until you get to Kyanjin  Gompa (3870). From here we hike to Kyanjin Ri (4773m) or Tsergo ri (4984m) and have an excellent view of mountain. Then we trek back to Lama Hotel and ascend to Gosankund. After spending night here we ascend to Lauribina -La Pass (4610m) and come to Tharepati, Kutumsang, Chisapani and finally you reach at Sundarijal Where we take bus to Kathmandu. We climb slowly to Doman (1680m) and continue over a rocky ridge to Landslide Lodge and Hot Spring restaurant; named after a small hot spring on the opposite river bank at 1810 meter. The trail now climbs gently up to Bamboo. Opposite the river we will see near vertical cliffs covered with cactuses. After Bamboo we cross the Langtang Khola on a new suspension bridge to the north bank. The forest becomes sparser and drier on this side of the river, consisting mainly of scrub nettles and oaks.
