Green Lake & Theulacha Pass Trekking
Green lake Trekking Zemu Glacier at the base camp of Mt. Kanchanjunga and
continue over the Theulacha to Muguthang. Meet the Lachenpas the inhabitants of
Northern Sikkim and trek to East Base Camp of Mt Kanchanjunga at Green Lake from
the eastern side. Trek through villages, hills and river valleys along the
foothills of the great Kanchanjunga Range.
Pristine areas and villages visited by a very few westerners till today.Newly opened, little trekked, area close to the Tibetan border in North Sikkim. Spring is best for many varieties of rhododendron and high altitude plant life. Spring/summer treks are of interest to birdwatchers and flowring plants. Octover-November is best for clear weather and good mountain views.
Itinerary
Day 01: Pick up at Bagdogra or Bhadraput Airport. Drive to Gangtok
(1,547m)
Day 02: Sightseeing of Gangtok and Rumtek Monastery. Overnight at
hotel.
Day 03: Drive to Lachen in north Sikkim (2728 M). Lodge or Tent.
Day 04: Start Trek to Talem (3120 M). Overnight Tent.
Day 05: Trek to
Jakthang (3240 M). Tent.
Day 06: Trek to Yabuk (3810 M). Tent.
Day 07:
Trek to Rest Camp (4500 M). Tent.
Day 08: Trek to Green Lake (4934 M). Tent.
Day 09: Exploration day hike to Zemu Glacier (5600m). Tent.
Day 10: Trek
back to Rest Camp. Tent.
Day 11: Trek before Thieulacha (5200m).Tent.
Day 12: Trek to Theulacha (5000+ M). Tent.
Day 13: Continue trekking to
Langbo. Tent.
Day 14: Trek to Muguthang (4520 M). Tent.
Day 15: Trek to
Chopta (3920m). Tent.
Day 16: Trek to Thangu. End of North Sikkim Trek.
Drive to Gangtok. Hotel.
Day 17: Free day in Gangtok. Optional day trip to
Thangu Lake. Hotel.
Day 18: Early morning drive to Bagdogra or Bhadrapur
Airport. End of Trek.
